Innovation Tech Academy

Courses that foster critical thinking skills

Innovation Tech Academy understands that students, just as most people, learn best by applying knowledge to practical situations. Learning is most efficient when one can actually see how it works and its effects on a real-world situation. Much like the form of the education approach by John Dewey - an American philosopher, psychologist, and educational reformer, in which education must emphasize the need to learn through a hands-on approach.

The courses offered by Innovation Tech Academy are specifically structured along the hands-on approach, developing critical thinking skills through creativity, problem-solving, using online learning, and applying project-based activities.

Creativity is an important aspect that students need to develop. Thinking of alternative ways to solve problems are essential life skills that allow a student to succeed in diverse situations. These course provide several situations that allow a student to engage in analytical processing and critical thinking to arrive at a conclusion.

Problem-solving is another critical concept that is essential for critical thinking. The ability to analyze a situation, review the components of the situation, consider alternative solutions to the situation in order to obtain the most preferred outcome is a necessary step in a student's developmental process. These courses establish situations that require rational and logical thought, all of which develop the problem-solving skills that students must acquire to face life's challenges.

A project-based learning approach is a student-centered pedagogy that involves dynamic lectures where students are engaged in active exploration of real-world challenges and problems. Project-based learning focuses on several key teaching goals that include: developing key knowledge, understanding, success skills, establishing challenging problems and questions, maintaining sustained student inquiry, focuses on real-world context, and allows for enhanced student interaction. Project-based learning is an effective way to develop insightful competencies required for success in college and professional careers.

Online learning exposes students to alternative and future ways to obtaining an education. Additionally, an online course is not limited to a text-book, rather it expands the learning capacity by presenting the full breath of the Internet in obtaining knowledge and furthering educational goals. Online learning prepares students through the use of guided lectures, self-graded quizzes, videos, and a plethora of supplemental material that augment the educational experience.
